OJT: On the Job Training
In the On the Job Training (OJT) program students learn about and demonstrate employability skills; environmental, health, and safety skills; professional, legal, and ethical responsibilities; financial skills; leadership skills; communication skills; human resources and labor skills; America’s economic principles; entrepreneurship principles; relate planning methods to life and career goals; and use of industry/technology principles in the workplace. An integral component of the program is a paid, supervised on-the-job (OJT) training experience. Students can earn up to five (5) OJT credits in one school year and may repeat the OJT experience in following years to receive multiple credits.

Eligibility:
- Must be 16 years old.
- Be employed and working a minimum of 5 hours per week per OJT class period.
- Must have a minimum of a 2.0 GPA.
- Must have met all state testing requirements (Algebra, Geometry, ELA, Biology, and Social Studies).
Course Requirements:
- Completed Student Application
- Initial Enrollment Paperwork Completed and Approved.
- Monthly Time Cards
- Meetings with OJT Teacher
- Entrepreneurship & Small Business (ESB) Industry Certification
- Compliance with Attendance, Grades & Behavior Expectations
Employment Requirements:
- Each ½ credit requires 18 weeks Paid Employment (semester)
- Each 1 credit requires 36 weeks Paid Employment (full year)
- Max of FIVE (5) class periods
- 5 work hours/week per OJT period.
- Ex: If you have 5 periods of OJT, you will need to work a minimum of 25 hours per week.
- W-2 Employee (on the payroll) with taxes deducted
- Student covered by Workers’ Compensation and Liability Insurance policies
