About the Academy
The Academy is a rigorous sequence of four scaffolded courses aligned with national learning standards. Through hands-on, project-based learning, students develop critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and collaborative problem-solving skills while exploring topics such as forensics, physiology, genetics, microbiology, and infectious diseases. Using laboratory investigations, dissections, and real-world medical case studies, students apply scientific knowledge to authentic healthcare and biomedical challenges.

Academy & Scholarship Opportunities
Students are provided scholarship opportunities through partnerships with the Academy of Finance Advisory Board, whose members represent finance companies, colleges/universities, healthcare organizations, and local businesses. Additional scholarship opportunities are available through partners such as AdventHealth and EmPros Healthcare Education, which support students pursuing careers in healthcare and STEM-related fields.
The academy also participates in the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Program, which offers scholarships to students who meet specific GPA, volunteer service, and standardized test score requirements. For more information regarding Bright Futures, please visit the official website:

Biomedical Academy Admitted Students Guidelines
Requirements to earn a Biomed Honor Cord:
- Must be a Biomedical Sciences Academy Student
- Must be a completer of ALL four Biomedical Sciences Academy classes and requirements.
- Must take Biology, Chemistry, and Anatomy & Physiology physical science courses.
- You must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher in all Academy and Core classes.
- You must have 150 hours of community service, with 50 of those hours in service to the Biomedical Sciences Academy.
- Must participate in all years of the Red Cross Club and compete at least one time in both competitive project-based clubs (HOSA and Society for Science)
