Hello, I am Mr. Dye (Deputy Dye) your Criminal Justice Teacher here at University High School. I bring over 29 years of active law enforcement experience to our Criminal Justice classes. I will be instructing in Criminal Justice 1 and Criminal Justice 2 classes for the 2016-2017 school year. I obtained my Bachelors degree in Technical Management from Oklahoma City University and my Associates degree in Administration of Criminal Justice from Seminole State College. I am also a graduate of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Glynco, Georiga. I am a self-published author of one book (2005-Advantage Press) and the co-author of a second published book (2011-AMG Publishers).
I have spent 23 years as a full-time Deputy Sheriff with the Volusia County Sheriff's Office and 6 years working for the United States Marshals Service in Los Angeles, CA. During these 29 years I have worked as a Criminal Investigator, Field Training Officer, Court Security, Patrol Sergeant, Detention Enforcement Specialist and most recently as the School Resource Officer (SRO) right here at UHS as well at DeLand and Spruce Creek High Schools and Creekside and River Springs Middle Schools. I have now retired from full-time law enforcement duties however, I am still a part-time Reserve Deputy with the Volusia County Sheriff's Office. I have always enjoyed teaching and instructing as part of my law enforcement duties and I now have the pleasure of carrying on that experience to you the students right here at University High School.
My classroom is located in Building 1B Room 208 (Second Floor just down from the Media Center). My class instruction times for 2016-2017 school year are for periods 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, & 7. (Planning Period is 1st), and I'm looking forward to another great year as part of the UHS faculty staff.
