This course enables students to recognize the properties, limitations, and possibilities of clay through the creation of functional and nonfunctional ceramics. Intermediate hand-building and wheel throwing techniques are emphasized. Students will understand and apply terminology and processes specifically related to the design, construction, surface design and firing of works. Content will include cultural and historical connections; reasoning, critical thinking and evaluation skills; and interdisciplinary, real world, and career connections.
