Congratulations to this year’s Medallion of Excellence Awardees. They are Elizabeth Gooch, Ashia Johnson, Ryan Kenis, and Delayney Larsen. These four students of the class of 2017 will have their photos displayed in our auditorium lobby for years to come. Congratulations Elizabeth, Ashia, Ryan & Delayney.

Congratulations to this year’s nominees for male Senior Athlete of The Year are Brandon Elias, Bradley Sisk & Logan Allen. Nominees for Female Athlete of The Year are Taylor Langworthy & Najah Gerald. Nominess for the Male Titan of The Year are Joey Rago, Ryan Kenis and Jorge Betancourte. Nominess for Female Titan of The Year are Olivia Hansen and Ashia Johnson. Award winners will be announced Wednesday at the Senior Awards.

Congratulations to the following Swim Team members: Our 2017 Titan Swim Captains are James Montgomery, James Partlow, Shelby Sprague & Jaylen Parrish, the 2017 Titan Swim Team Activities Liaison are Steven Acevedo & Kim Grinnen & Our 2017 Titan Swim Spirit Team Leaders are Taylor Pelland & Arianna Pearsall. Congratulations!!!!

Attention all 2016-17 varsity athletes, Varsity Letter Ceremony will take place May 24th @ 7:00pm in the Auditorium. This is a semi-formal event, please dress appropriately! plan to attend to get your varsity letter . We will also have our final National Letter of Intent signing at 6:30pm prior to the Varsity Letter Ceremony.

Today at the start of lunch Now Club will have their final meeting for the year in room 4-213.

Science Olympiad will have their End-of-the-Year Celebration today after school.  Team members will enjoy tasty treats and view this year's photo montage.  Senior members will be honored and certificates of recognition will be awarded.  Students should plan to stay a little longer than a regular meeting.

Do you enjoy reading? Well, if you do plan to attend the Book Club Info & Interest Mtg on Fri. May 12 during the first half of lunch in room 1C-211. We are interested selecting a book to read over the summer and possibly start a group chat.

A Daytona State College Admissions Advisor will be on campus on Tuesday May 16th in Guidance from 9-11 am. Stop by the Guidance Office to sign up.

The following Athletic teams will be hosting interest meetings:

  • Cross Country will meet Wed May 17th at 3pm in the UHS court yard
  • Boys basketball you will meet &  meet the new coach during lunch on Friday May 12th in the UHS weight room
  • Swim team will meet Thursday May 18th in room 4-310 during lunch.


Bethune-Cookman University is now accepting applications for the dual enrollment program!  If you are in grades 9-12 and meet the entry requirements, you have the opportunity to earn credits toward a college degree at NO COST to you!  Classes are being offered on the main campus in Daytona Beach and on the BCU Deltona campus located on Saxon Blvd. Applications will be accepted through August 9th for the Fall 2017 semester.  Interested students must have a 3.0 unweighted G.P.A. and qualifying test scores.  Contact your school counselor to schedule the PERT test.  Don’t delay…Classes begin August 14, 2017. All current dual-enrolled students: All college materials are due to the textbook room by Monday, May 15th.  If you plan to enroll in summer or fall semester courses you must turn-in a copy of your schedule to the textbook room.  You will not be able to get your new materials until spring semester’s books have been returned. 

Due to the high volume of dual-enrolled students receiving college books can take several days or longer.   Be advised, all overdue college textbooks will become a financial obligation going into school year 17-18. For your convenience, the textbook room will be opened for summer hours Monday thru Thursday 8 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. 

Attention seniors:  Daytona International Speedway is having a hiring event for graduating seniors who are interested in working the Coke Zero race.  Positions in guests services are available.  See the flyer in the guidance office for more information or call 386-681-6019.

Volunteer Opportunities:

  • Debary Elementary is in need of student volunteers for their One Book One School Medieval Fair on May 11th from 5:30-8pm at Debary Elementary. If interested please contact Mrs. Donlevy at 386-575-4230 ext: 42196.
  • The Florida Elks Youth Camp is now hiring Summer Camp Counselors.  You must be at least 16 years old.  The camp is from June 4th until July 29th.  Go to www.feyc.org to apply.
  • Juniors & Seniors are needed for VPK 2017 Summer School from July 5 – July 27th from 7:37am -5:30pm. If interested contact a school listed below after June 5th and ask to speak with the VPK teacher for summer school.Volunteers are needed at the following schools:

Attention Seniors: 

The Florida Sheriff’s Youth Ranch is currently hiring Summer Counselors.  Pay plus room and board will be provided. If interested you must contact Daniel Phillips by April 29th. A Flyer with this information is located in the guidance office.

The last day for seniors to turn in community service hours will be May 17.

Seniors if you have not picked up your cap and gown you can still do so by seeing Mrs. Pearsall in room 3-200.  

Attention seniors: All textbooks must be turned-in to the Titan Textbook Room 1B-104 by Wednesday, May 17th.  There will not be a mass senior textbook turn-in; therefore, it’s your responsibility to turn-in your textbooks before the due date.  The textbook room is open 7 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. every day with the exception of 5th and 6th periods when it is closed.  Any senior with textbooks not turned-in by May 17th can have their diploma withheld at Graduation.  Any questions please contact Mrs. Merk in 1B-104. 

Attention Seniors: Graduation tickets & Graduation Parking passes are currently on sale in room 3-200. Graduation tickets are $3 and parking passes are $5. Seniors can purchase up to 9 tickets now through May 19th. If you need more than 9 tickets you can purchase more tickets on May 22nd. See Mrs. Pearsall with any questions.

Class of 2017 Senior tees are currently on sale in room 1B-102 for  $15 cash or check, exact amount please.

  • May 25th – Mandatory Graduation Rehearsal, graduates must arrive by 9:45am @ Ocean Center, Daytona Beach
  • May 28th – Graduation, graduates must arrive by 2:30pm. Graduation begins promptly at 4pm @ Ocean Center, Daytona Beach


UHS Faculty & Staff if you are in need of a gift bag please stop into our faculty mail room and support our Multi VE department students by purchasing a handmade decorated gift bag…they will be selling these handmade gift bags through the month of April.

 Host families are needed for an international exchange student for the upcoming 2017-2018 school year.  The student will be between the ages of 15-18 and will stay with each host family for 3-5 months.  The host family provides meals, a bed, as well as friendship, understanding and genuine interest to share our American way of life.  The students speak English; have insurance and their own spending money.  For more information about hosting a Rotary Youth Exchange student, see Mrs. Marracino
