Athletics:

Track conditioning has started and will run Monday thru Thursday until Dec. 19.  Athletes should meet down by the track by 3:15pm. TRACK CONDITIONIGN FOR TODAY (12/3) HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO SEVERE WEATHER.  If you have any questions, please see Mr. Copes in 1c-110.

The end of the season Football Award Ceremony will be held on Wed. Jan. 9th at 7pm in the UHS auditorium.

Driver’s Ed information is available for pick up in the front office today. Driver’s Ed registration form will be available Jan. 9th in the front office. Completed forms can be submitted on Jan. 10th. Please remember this class fills up fast and it is first come, first serve.

Are you are looking for a place to do homework after school and be more proactive with your assignments? Keep Up Club allows students to maintain grades and encourages student athletes to study before practice. Are you in need of tutoring? Well, NHS is offering tutoring in the media center Mondays and Thursdays from 3-4pm.

Daytona State, Deland Campus Only, is having an evening enrollment on December 6th, from 4pm-7pm. If you need assistance enrolling for dual enrollment classes for the spring, they will have extra help on hand to assist you with your enrollment.

Winter Dance Showcase will be on Thursday & Friday, next week at 7pm in the UHS auditorium. Tickets will be sold at the door for $5.

Science Olympiad will meet Friday, December 7th afterschool in Ms. Pahel’s room.

The BIG RED Bus will be on campus this Friday. If you are interested in donating blood this Friday be sure to sign up for a time at the table set up in the courtyard or stop into the activities office, 2B-110.

JV Lady Titans improved to 3-0 on season with a dominating performance beating Winter Springs 58-10.Varsity Lady Titans improve to 2-1 with a 50-33 win over Winter Springs. With the win, for the first time in school history UHS starts off district play 2-0.

The Titan Cheer Competition Team had its first Head to Head Competition on Thursday 11/29 vs Spruce Creek HS.They executed an almost perfect cheer receiving high scores across all categories! Your coaches are very proud of you for an excellent performance!

There will be an interest meeting for Boy’s Weightlifting this Thursday November 29. The meeting will take place in the weight room during the 1st half of lunch. See Coach Roberts if you have any questions.

Congratulations to the theatre students for their exceptional performance at the District 3 Theatre Competition in Orlando.   The one-act play earned Superior Technical and Excellent Performance scores. Storm Smith, Cheney Scott, Dakota Johnson, Rylee Tobin, Lucas Laguer, and Tammy Nugyen all earned Superiors in various events and will progress to the State competition over Spring Break in Tampa.  Fantastic Work Titan Theatre!

Congratulations to the UHS Choir for being selected to perform in the annual Candlelight Processional at EPCOT.  The choir will perform on December 27 at 5:00 p.m.  Way to go, UHS Choir!!!!

ATHLETICS:

Congratulations to the Girls Weightlifting team on a great start to their season at Flagler Palm Coast High School last Wedmesday. The Titans beat Atlantic High School and Crescent City High School and battled the defending area champion Flagler to close defeat. The Titans were led by outstanding individual performances from Sabryna Barahona, Shannon Tracey, Kailyn Dozier, Rheagan Dibacco, Jordan Mckendrick and Arianna Pearsall. The Titans travel to Spruce Creek next Wednesday looking to improve on their 2-1 record. Great job Titans!

Congratulations to our Girls Bowling Team for earning the 4th seed position in the FHSAA State Bowling Tournament Team Qualifying Round out of 34 teams and for finishing the tournament in 7th overall in the state.  Congratulations also goes to Michael Salimbene as an individual medalist finishing 6th overall and to Alyssa Fodrie for finishing tied for 9th.The Boys and Girls Bowling Team had an awesome season and through everyone's hard work and dedication successfully brought recognition once again to the University High School Bowling Program.  Again, congratulations to all! Until next year … Titans … Lets keep it rolling!

Boys basketball will start tryouts this week.  9th and 10th graders will try out today, November 5 from 3:30 to 5:30.  11th and 12th graders will try out tomorrow, November 6 from 3:30.  Everyone that wants to try out must have a Physical EL 2 and EL 3 form completed and the “Concussion in Sports” Video course completed in order to try out.  No exceptions will be made.  All forms and video links are located on the website www.uhstitansathletics.com.  If you have questions please see Coach Frick in 1C-108.

ATHLETICS:

Congratulations to our UHS gUrls Bowling Team for finishing a great season by finishing in 3rd place as a team at the Regional Golf Tournament. The gUrls finished the season going undefeated throughout the regular season, won the Volusia/Flagler Tournament, 5 Star Conference Tournament, and the district tournament. Good job ladies, you made UHS proud!

Congratulations to the boys golf team for winning the Regional Golf Tournament yesterday for the first time in school history! The Boys obliterated their own school record by 14 strokes by shooting a 291 which  was 9 stokes better than Winter Park HS. The Titans were led by Ethan Werblo who shot a 3 under par 69, Grant Russell who shot even par 72,  Josh Munsey who shot 1 over par 73, and Bryce Werblo who shot a 77. The boys will be playing for the State Championship in 2 weeks at Mission Inn Country Club.

Girls Basketball tryouts will be held Oct. 29 & Oct. 30 5-7pm in the UHS Gym. To try out all athletes must have completed paperwork submitted to the athletic director in room 2b-110.

DeBary Elementary needs student volunteers for their upcoming Hoe Down on November 9th. This event will be from 6-8PM and they will need volunteers from 5:45-8:15 to help run the games/activities they will have for families to enjoy. Sign up in room 2b-110 today.


Titans would you like to dress up for Halloween and support the Panhandle Hurricane victims in Gadsen County? Well purchase to do both purchase a wristband for $1 at SGA HQ during lunch today or tomorrow, to wear your costume on Friday. Wristbands WILL NOT be sold on Friday. Money raised to directly support Hurricane Michael victims in Gadsen County. SGA will host a best dressed contest at lunch on Friday. Costumes must follow basic district dress code. Your costume/attire must cover your body appropriately and cannot have drug, weapon or other negative references. Costumes may not include masks or anything that resembles weapons of any type.

ATHLETICS:

The Lady Titans dominate yesterday winning the District Girls Golf Championship at Spruce Creek Golf Club with a team score of 361.  Jordan McKendrick takes medalist honor with a round of 80 which included an eagle and birdies on the back nine!  Kenna Kelting finished tied for second with a score of 88 and Coral Estes fourth with a 91.  All three girls received All District First Team honors.  Jenna Sylvester shot a 102 sealing the win for the Titans!  Bailey Palmieri shot a 139.  Congratulations to Coach Pinson and the Lady Titans for their Undefeated Season and District win!  They move on to the Regional Tournament Monday at DeBary  Golf &CC in hopes to qualify for States!

Girls soccer conditioning for after school today has been cancelled.

Girls soccer tryouts will be held the week of October 22, 2018 at Bennett Park from 4-6 p.m. To try out all athletes must have completed paperwork, 2.0 GPA, and proper athletic attire. Questions? See Mrs. McMann in 1C-207.

All boys interested in playing soccer for UHS this year must make sure that all of their paper work is in and you are cleared for tryouts.  Please see AD Weaver or Coach Myers in Rm 1A 305 to insure that you are cleared.  Tryouts will be Monday 10/22 through Wednesday 10/24 from 4 – 5:45 at Bennett Park.  Please bring proper equipment and water to tryouts.

Titans, are you interested in dual-enrollment?  The PERT Test window is opening again, and it’s time to get your scores in  for future dual-enrollment opportunities.  If you would like to take the PERT test for dual-enrollment, please sign up by using the QR codes around campus.  You will receive notification of your testing assignment no later than October 26th.  If you are unable to send your name via the QR code, please email Dr. Middleton at [email protected]  The dates for testing for dual-enrollment purposes are October 29th through November 2nd. ATHLETICS:

After a windy day on the links, the Titans Lady Golf Team prevails as repeat 5 Star Conference Champions shooting a team total of 369.  We are proud of our team with the windy conditions!  Congratulations to Jordan McKendrick finishing 3rd with her 82 score (Par 70). Kenna Kelting also finished placing 4th shooting 83. Our Senior Jenna Sylvester shot 99 and Coral Estes 105 and Bailey Palmieri 128. Definitely, not our best day but the Titans win again!  The Team remains undefeated.

Congratulations to the boy’s golf team for their 5 Star Conference Victory yesterday! This is the first Conference Title in school history. Also Ethan Werblo was Individual Conference Champion and Bryce Werblo was individual runner -up.

Congratulations TITAN Swim for the win over Seabreeze. With first place spots taken by Ashley Franco, jaylen Parrish, Julia Annunziato, and Chloe Morgan in the girls medley relay, Julia Annunziato in the 200 IM and 500 freestyle,Jaylen Parrish in the 100 free and 100 breast, Julia Annunziato, Chloe Morgan, alexia lemus, and jaylen Parrish in the 400 relay, Taylor Pelland in the 200 IM, Devon Neumeyer in the 100 breast, with spectacular anchoring by Ari Pearsall. UHS is offering a SAT Prep class on Saturdays from 9am to 12pm.  The class begins on Saturday Oct. 6th and will be held every Saturday until the December 1st test.  You can attend the review sessions for either Math or English or both sections of the test.  If you have any questions, or want to sign up, please see Ms. Drysdale in 1A-200 or Ms. Delacruz in 1A-203.

Attention all 10th grade students & Juniors that signed up to take the PSAT, you will be taking the PSAT on Wednesday, October 10th beginning at 7:20 in the morning. Please be certain that you arrive to school on time, eat a breakfast, and are well-rested for the exam.  Late entries to the exam rooms are not permitted.  The exam includes a portion of the test in which a calculator can be used.  Calculators ARE NOT given out by the test administrators at the school.  Students are responsible for bringing their own calculators to the exam. All questions CAN be answered without the use of a calculator, it up to you if you want to bring a calculator.

THE BIG RED BUS will be on campus Friday, Oct. 12th. Any student 16yrs or older interested in donating blood please stop by the table set up in the courtyard or room 2b-110 during lunch time to sign up for a time to donate blood on Friday.

Seniors:  If you are planning to go to college after high school there are 2 very important applications you must complete now. The Bright Futures application is available at FloridaStudentFinancialAid.org and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is available at fafsa.ed.gov. These applications opened on October 1st.   Deadlines vary depending on which college or university you plan to attend.  By completing these applications now you will meet those deadlines.  If you need assistance with these applications, make an appointment to see your counselor.

Congratulations to the boys golf team for winning their first Volusia/Flagler County tournament championship yesterday. The Titans shot a team total 314 and was led by Josh Munsey, Ethan Werblo, Joey Michaud, Bryce Werblo and Grant Russell.

Great job Titan Swim at their meet against New Smyrna yesterday. First place wins taken by Chloe Morgan in the 50 free, Jaylen Parrish in the 100 free and 100 breast, Julia Annunziato, Chloe Morgan, Alexia Lemus, and Jaylen Parrish in the 400 free relay, Craig Sava, Taylor Pelland, Devon Neumeyer, James Partlow in the boys 200 medley relay

Oct. 1st UHS’ Red Cross Club began their Operation Food Drive for the hurricane victims in NC & SC. They will be collecting non-perishable items through Oct. 12th. All items can be dropped off at UHS’ front desk or room 4-206.

Each year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15, by celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America.  The observation was enacted into law in 1988 and 30 day span was selected because independence was won for Latin American countries.  

Titan Dance is excited to celebrate the diversity of everyone at the U!. We are looking forward to having a block party filled with music, dancing and dominoes in the center courtyard during lunch on Friday, October 5th.   Bring your flag, food and instruments to celebrate with us. UHS is offering a SAT Prep class on Saturdays from 9am to 12pm.  The class begins on Saturday Oct. 6th and will be held every Saturday until the December 1st test.  You can attend the review sessions for either Math or English or both sections of the test.  If you have any questions, or want to sign up, please see Ms. Drysdale in 1A-200 or Ms. Delacruz in 1A-203.

There will be a mandatory meeting for all boys interested in playing soccer for UHS this Tuesday Oct 9th during the first half of lunch in RM 1A – 305.  Please have all paperwork – physicals and video certificates in ASAP as you may not participate in conditioning or tryouts until you have been cleared by our AD.  Conditioning will begin Wednesday 10/10 at 3pm by the track and tryouts will be 10/22 – 10/24.

Congratulations Titan Swim for their Excellent Showing at this weekend’s Record Breaker Invitational.  With 10 Teams present we had some major victories. Julia Annunziato taking an overall 4th Place in the 200 Individual Medley, James Partlow Taking overall 5th Place in the 50 Free, Taylor Pelland taking overall 3rd place in 100 Breast, Jaylen Parrish taking overall 4th place in 100 breast and the Girls 400 Free Relay took overall 4th place and included Julia Annunziato, Chloe Morgan, Alexia Lemus, and Jaylen Parrish. The Lady Titans golf team win the Volusia Flagler 18 hole Tournament yesterday shooting 354 as a team at Daytona Beach Golf Club.  Jordan McKendrick tied for the lead shooting 80, receiving runner up honors after a playoff for medalist honors.  Kenna Kelting shot 83, Coral Estes 93, Jenna Sylvester 98, Bailey Palmieri 118.  Jordan and Kenna revived All County Team honors.  The Team remains undefeated for the season.

The Titan Travel Club will have it’s first meeting on Friday September 28th during the first half of lunch.  Anyone interested in travel is welcome to attend. The 2019 Europe trip meeting will take place on Wednesday October 3rd at 6:30pm.  If you are a registered traveler, please plan on attending this important meeting.  The 2019 and 2020 informational trip meeting will be held on Tuesday October 2nd at 6:30.  If you are interested in traveling to either Ireland, England and France or Australia – please plan to attend.

University Titans win the All Area Tournament yesterday at Daytona Golf Club!  The 9 hole tournament consisted of 9 teams covering the Volusia-Flagler Counties!  We shot 176 to beat Matanzas 185.  Jordan McKendrick shot a one under 35 to take medalist honors!  Kenna Kelting tied for fourth shooting 41.  Coral Estes placed 6th with 43.  Jenna Sylvester finishing with a 57.  Bailey Palmieri with her personal best shooting 70.  We are proud of our Titans

Congratulations to the Girls and Boys Bowling Team for defeating Pine Ridge and improving their records to 5-0.  Top performances were delivered by anchor Christopher Russ with his second 3-game series of 710; Alyssa Fodrie with back to back +200 games and Julia Yates with a 214 high game.  Our next home match is this Thursday against Matanzas.  Come out and support the Titan bowling teams.  Lets keep it rolling... 

University Titans win the All Area Tournament yesterday at Daytona Golf Club!  The 9 hole tournament consisted of 9 teams covering the Volusia-Flagler Counties!  We shot 176 to beat Matanzas 185.  Jordan McKendrick shot a one under 35 to take medalist honors!  Kenna Kelting tied for fourth shooting 41.  Coral Estes placed 6th with 43.  Jenna Sylvester finishing with a 57.  Bailey Palmieri with her personal best shooting 70.  We are proud of our Titans

Underclassmen Yearbook photos will be taken this Friday. You will go down to the auditorium with your English classes to take your photo. If you do not have an English class on campus be sure to stop in to the auditorium anytime between 7am-3pm to get your yearbook photo taken.

The Girls Golf team take another victory for the season against Father Lopez playing their first home match at DeBary Golf & CC yesterday.  Kenna Kelting lead the Titans with a nine hole score of 40 taking runner up overall medalist honors for the match.  Congratulations to Kenna, Jordan, Coral, Jenna and Bailey and Coach Pinson for their win making their season record 3-0.

Congratulations to the 2018 yearbook staff for achieving an All-American rating with five marks of distinction from the National Scholastic Press Association, accomplishing an almost perfect score on the 2017-2018 ‘You Wanna Be Us’ yearbook.

Congratulations to the boys golf team on their victory over Father Lopez yesterday 153-184. The Titans were lead by Seniors Josh Munsey, Grant Munsey, and Sophomore Bryce Werblo.

The Lady Titan Golfers prevailed with a win at their season opening match against Flagler Palm Coast in Bunnell yesterday.  We would like to congratulate Coach Pinson and her team including Jordan McKendrick, Kenna Kelting, Coral Estes, Jenna Sylvester and Bailey Palmieri on their Victory and Good Luck against their match today against Mainland.”

Varsity Football is playing Deltona at Pine Ridge Hs this Friday night at 7pm.  Tickets are $6 for everyone, parking is $5 per car.  Gates will open at six, please arrive early seating is limited.   Non High school students will be allowed to bring chairs and sit in the overflow area in the end zone.  Come out and cheer on our Titan

Attention Juniors and Seniors, School of Government applications are due Friday, August 24th.    The School of Government program visits city, county and state governments.   All expenses are paid for in the program, including the trip to Tallahassee. Did you transfer into University High School recently? We are offering one last chance for TRANSFERS ONLY to join the Titan Cheer Teams! If you attended the cheer meeting, heard announcements last spring and cheered last year and chose not to tryout then you are ineligible. This is an opportunity for those that just transferred to UHS over the summer. Try Out packets can be picked up at the following locations front office, 1B-104 or 2B-110. Attention juniors:  The Tomorrow’s Leaders Program is a leadership program for outstanding 11th grade students.  This program will help you set and achieve personal goals and prepare you to take on leadership positions.  Only 40 students from the county will be selected to participate.  College admissions and Scholarship committees look very favorably on this.  For more information please see or email Mrs. Marracino in the guidance office.

The 6th Congressional District of FL Congressman Ron DeSantis Academy Day will be this Sat. from 9:30am to 12pm at Spruce Creek HS Auditorium. All HS students and your parents are invited.

PERT TESTING: Attention all Juniors & seniors who need to earn their Algebra 1 EOC graduation requirement…. You will receive a testing notification in your math class tomorrow (Wednesday).  If you do not receive a purple PERT notification to test for a concordant score, please see Mrs. Bynum or Dr. Middleton in the media center BEFORE Friday.  Your available testing dates are Monday, August 20th – Wednesday the 23rd.

Attention students who wish to Dual Enroll.  The PERT will be administered next Thursday, August 24th & Friday the 25th ONLY.  You may sign up outside the media center this week only.  You will NOT receive a testing notification, you simply sign up to test and report to 1B-209 at 7:30am.  There will NOT be any make-up dates for this administration.

Upperclassmen interested in planning events on campus such as homecoming, please attend the SGA Student Council interest meeting on Tuesday, August 21st at 11:15a in SGA Headquarters located in the old ISS room in the cafeteria. Homecoming Tickets will go on sale Monday, 8/20 for the early bird price of $25 in the Student Activities Office. Students must have a current student ID to purchase a HOCO ticket.  Price will increase on September 15th to $35.

Titans just a few quick reminders…

Dress code is in effect. If you are not in dress code you will face disciplinary actions.  A polo or button down oxford shirt in one of the 4 school colors orange, gray, white or black. Acceptable lower garments are the following: pants, shorts, capris, skirts, skorts and jumpers must be a solid color of navy blue, black or tan with no stripes, decorations or embroidery and black & blue denim is acceptable as well.

Students driving on campus…must have an approved 18-19 UHS parking pass decal. The number on your decal is your assigned spot for this school year. If you do not park in your assigned spot or if you do not have a current approved decal you will face disciplinary actions.

Late students and students being checked out for any reason will do vis the auditorium check out window located in front of the auditorium. There will be no check ins or check outs in the front office. You will be redirected to the auditorium check out window.

Juniors & Seniors leaving campus for lunch out…remember to return to campus on time. You DO NOT want to be late and have your lunch out revoked!

The ACTIVITIES OFFICE, 2B-110 will be open before first bell, during lunch and after school from 2:45 to 3: 35 for to purchase lunch out, school Id’s, athletic passes, lockers, yearbooks and parking passes. The BIG RED BUS will be on campus this Friday. Titans 17 years old  and older can sign up to donate blood during lunch time in the courtyard starting tomorrow. Students that are 16yrs old and would like to donate blood must pick up a parent permission slip and return it completed to donate blood. You can pick up the permission slip at the One Blood table set up in the courtyard or the activities office, 2B-110.

Students that purchase student ID's please come prepared to take your picture that day.

Class fees and past obligations may also be paid for during orientation days.

If you purchsed school polos at ther Polo Ordering Event on July 17th, polos will be available for pick up during orientation.
