University High School is excited to announce…..That we will have our very own “Escape Room Night” Wednesday, January 24th from 6:30 – 7:45 pm in the media center.  The clues are based on test taking strategies and Literacy, so ask your reading or ELA teacher if you can get credit for participating!  Meet the challenge - you will search for clues, solve puzzles, and unlock locks. Bring a guardian or parent, and work as a team helping each other uncover the clues and solve the puzzles to finish your quest. Do you have what it takes to escape?   Prizes are involved!!!  Be there Wednesday, January 24th 6:30 – 7:45.

All athletes planning on participating in spring sports your athletic paperwork must be completed & cleared by AD before tryouts or participating.  Boys weightlifting has already begun practice see Coach Roberts in weight room afterschool if interested in joining.  Tennis, Track & Softball begin practice & tryouts begin today afterschool. See Coach Eggert if you have any questions.

National English Honor Society is hosting a dress drive for the “Night to Shine” at Stetson Baptist Church. If you have nay gently used dresses to donate for a great cause please drop them off in the front office. All dresses will get picked up on Jan. 17th.

The Criminal Justice Club is meeting today during lunch in Deputy Dye’s classroom 1B-101.  This is a mandatory meeting for all club members. Also, if any student is interested in learning more about a career in the criminal justice system or want more information in joining the Criminal Justice Club please feel free to stop by and see Officer Walters in 1B-108 or Deputy Dye in 1B-101.

Congratulations to the UHS Lady Lifters for a stellar showing last night at the district meet.  They finished fourth as a team with 5 Top-6 finishers, all of whom advance to regionals next Saturday at Spruce Creek.  Our representatives at regionals will be Shannon Tracey, Sara Conway, Abby Kellie, Marissa Adame, and Ari Pearsall.  Congratulations to all the Lady Lifters for a successful season, and especially to these five for advancing to the next round of competition.  We very proud of you all!!

This is a one- time ACT opportunity for your student to obtain a concordant score to meet the graduation testing requirement for the Grade 10 ELA. You are given up to 5 hours on the test and can spend all your time on the reading portion. This assessment is being offered FREE to our seniors through ACT and for Jr’s at a $45.00 charge. Interested students must return the letter that was mailed on Tuesday, December 19th and it must be signed by a parent/guardian along with the $45.00 payment by the end of today.  Please contact Mrs. Fraine with any questions.

Juniors & Seniors….Have you ever wanted to pilot a high-speed assault craft or extract Navy SEALs from enemy territory? You’ll get your chance when the U.S. Navy brings its new, mobile, state-of-the-art virtual reality experience — to our school for the EMS-Military Expo on Jan. 26th. You’ll go through a series of exercises, starting with a briefing, before utilizing an Oculus Rift headset and other cool gear to lead various missions, including a high-speed water extraction of a Navy SEAL team pinned down under enemy fire. Once the mission is completed, you’ll be graded on your performance. It’s about as realistic as it gets! There will also be opportunities to talk to current U.S. Navy Sailors, participate in physical training (PT) challenges, interact with other technologies, and take photos. PLEASE NOTE: If you are age 14–17, you will need to have a waiver form signed by a parent or guardian. The waiver can be found on our website at www.uhstitans.com.

Grad Bash will be held Friday April 27th at Universal Studios.  Tickets are currently on sale for $90 until Friday February 2.  After February 2nd, tickets will go up to $95.  The deadline to purchase tickets will be Wednesday, February 28th.  You can purchase tickets online at UHSTitans.com or in the Activity Office 2B -110.  Please note that all financial obligations must be cleared to purchase your ticket.  Do not purchase a ticket on-line if you are unsure if you have any obligations, refunds can take up to several weeks to be processed.  Stop by the textbook room 1B-104 or Activities office to check your obligation status.  Notices for overdue textbook and financial obligations will be handed out during homeroom when report cards are distributed. Any questions, please see Mrs. Pearsall in the Activities Office or Miss Ficco in room 1B-102.
